Just a week after Abby got home, it was transfer time again for the mission. Because so many missionaries come to transfers anyway, and we'd had zone conferences back at the end of November, it felt like we needed to do something closer to Christmas to celebrate with the missionaries. So we thought it would be a great idea to have a mission gathering around transfers. We welcomed the new missionaries as usual Monday night, trained them the next morning, and had everyone else come in and finish their transfers in time to start a mission wide Christmas devotional around 12:30. Abby came home this week! We were so excited to welcome her home - we made posters and got all ready to pick her up the night she arrived on December 7. We knew she was traveling without a SIM card, but we weren't concerned because we had all her flight info. She was able to send us a message over Facebook messenger that morning that her flight out of Rome was delayed, so she was going to arrive a little later that night into Atlanta. We got ready with our balloons and posters, and waited at the airport with eager anticipation, straining to see each face as they came up the escalator. We waited, and waited, and waited. Finally we checked the flight she should have been on and it had been there for a long time.
